“Do something today that your future self will thank you for.”
I bet you remember what you wanted to become when you were a kid? Down to what it looked like, how you would feel about it and why it was even important for you.
Often we worry and think about what the future holds for us. I believe we should remember one thing; we are creating our future “now”, our every moment of the present is shaping our future. What the future holds is how we operate in it.
Perhaps you met that goal and are living it today, or perhaps like many, life somehow took a different path for you. A path that looks significantly different than how you envisioned it would be.
Of course, we never really know what the future holds, yet we should nevertheless have goals and dreams, and encourage others to hold onto something, especially as we’re growing up. However, there is a great chance that our lives will look much differently than how we first planned it. From our careers to our personal relationships, things shift, get altered or all together change.
However, life happens and we must deal with the disappointments, changes and unplanned events. Otherwise, we will live in a state of what could have been. Probably feeling like a failure, or that you let yourself and others down. I know this because it was my story for way too long.
I spent more time feeling bad about how things turned out and who I hurt, versus discovering new ways to embrace the life I was living, how I found myself there and what I needed to do to become a better version of myself.
I’ve learned that the life we live is one of purpose. We are not accidents or coincidences. What we do and how we live either depicts the insight we have about our purpose or the tremendous lack of understanding.
Oftentimes coming to this understanding requires tremendous hardship to capture our attention, to get us to become still long enough to recognize how far off the path we have gone. Only then can we begin to see and appreciate the beauty that exists within our lives.
Once we discover it, we can share it with the world. Offering hope, renewed vibrancy and richness that impacts our communities.
At the end of the day, no one knows what the future holds, however what we can know is our lives matter and the future can be shaped by what we understand about ourselves, whether today or at some point in the future. Our future can be bright or worse, what matters is the belief in our ability to go through every phase of life.
Life is always uncertain. The only thing we can do is our best and then let life take care of rest. Life is a riddle of choices. Every day we are choosing and deciding things. That is why we should choose wisely.
We can’t predict the future even if we can, we don’t know if it will happen exactly one hundred percent as we are expecting. Because the universe is habitual of surprising us with unexpected situations. What we can do is decide what kind of future we want to live in and then start working to create it from today. What the future holds for us depends on the steps we take in it and the steps we took before it.
We remain the same in the future as we were in the past, the same human being who takes breaths. What changes? the things that we learn from in our past make us better and help us in the future. I think it is better to ask how I want to see myself in the future than to wonder what the future holds for me. Because when you decide how you want to see yourself in the future, this thing acts as a filter when you make any decision or choice. If something doesn’t align or contribute towards how you want to see yourself in the future then you say no to it and save your time and energy, and only say yes to the things that help you move towards your objective. The right questions lead us to the right things.
In the enigmatic dance of destiny, the future remains elusive, yet it is not tethered to the whims of fate alone. For in the hands of every individual, lies a brush to paint the canvas of tomorrow, each stroke shaping the tapestry of existence. Thus, while the future may be a mystery, it is we who hold the key to its unfolding, guided by our dreams, aspirations, and the courage to forge our own path through the unknown.
