You are an EAGLE!!

Once upon a time in West Africa, there was an animal expert and that animal expert knew everything about any animal that was in the bush. One day, he was passing through a farm, where he saw a bunch of chickens but there was an eagle sitting between them. He rushed to the owner and asked him to come and see that he has an eagle. The farmer came and the animal expert picked the eagle on his arm and said, “Listen to me. You’re not a chicken. You’re an eagle. You know how to fly. Go fly.” The eagle saw his fellow chickens down there and he went to sit with him. The farmer laughed at the animal expert. The animal expert then came the next day and called the farmer. The animal expert took the eagle to the roof. He said, “All your life people told you, you’re a chicken. But you’re not a chicken. You’re an eagle. You know how to fly. You’re not bound to just sit and eat. Go fly.” The eagle tried and he spread his wings and he started to fly.

The eagle made it home. He made it to truth of who he was. This is homecoming. To all those who at different points have found themselves living like someone they are not. You may have started acting different because of how you were treated or how people told you about yourself or how you saw others acting. You have not felt comfortable or safe enough to truly be yourself or to feel at home in your identity. The recognized or unrecognized traumas of your past may have taught you to hide your gifts and voice in order to survive. When we’re not at home, we are paying a cost anyway. It cost you your life.

Six signs that you are not connected to your true self and your power:

1. Does the state of your life internally or externally fall short of what you imagined?

2. Did you obtain what you thought you wanted only to discover you still feel empty and unfulfilled?

3. Do you have a sense of powerlessness or hopelessness?

4. Do you lack the energy or motivation to pursue the things that used to matter to you?

5. Do you feel there are no words to capture the ache in your heart?

6. Do you find yourself crying often or does it seem impossible to cry?

Today we’ll facilitates your journey back to who you really are. So, you can own your full identity and fly. You and I are here to talk about because there are people who are treated like a chicken, dated like a chicken, picking job like a chicken, working like a chicken. But, my friend, you are not a chicken. You’re an eagle. So, fly and fly high.

Start with a breath. Inhale with your nose and slowly exhale through your mouth. We’re so busy and scattered and we have been tricked into believing that I can prove my worthiness with my busyness. People believe that if I’m so productive, I must be at home. But, most often they aren’t. Take a moment to tune into your breath. To inhale in through your nose and slowly exhale through your mouth. To begin to scan your bodies noticing any place where you’re holding tension and sending breath throughout the body. Giving yourself permission to breathe and release. As we set intentions for self-compassion and for clarity.

The process of homecoming starts with self-healing. Healing is the process of homecoming of being loving and accepting myself. When you accept YOU, you’ve nothing to prove. If you have connected to any of the above questions, you have already taken the first step and that’s awareness. It’s because you can’t come to yourself if you don’t know you are wandering. You choose to tell yourself the truth.

First thing is to know and accept the fact that you’re disconnected with yourself and start healing and doing self-care. Self-care is physical, emotional and mental. You can heal and come to yourself if you don’t feel good in your body and mind. Associate with people who are at your level, or who can help you to grow. Also, not everyone will share your vision or dream. Find people who think like you so that you can both dream and grow together. Don’t waste your time with naysayers and negative people. And don’t share your dreams with just anybody. You’ve got a dream? Protect it!

Get excited about the storms in your life. Challenges bring opportunities. We could see the opportunities, wrapped in our challenges if we weren’t so busy, complaining and trying to void them. Embrace your challenges and learn from them. That’s how we learn new skills, grow and get stronger. Is this easy to do? Of course not. But we can learn how to!!!
