The secret to success and happiness?

You know what’s the single biggest barrier to your happiness? But the first question is to ask what happiness is to you?

For me, happiness is not only being positive. Word happy means being present, content and okay with yourself in your life. Whatever is going on the outside of your life, you have this ability to access a positive, optimistic and supportive baseline that is deep inside of you. We usually look outside for our happiness. Oh, when I will get my bills pay, I’ll be happy. When I’ll get into that school, or when I’ll get that specific thing, or if I lose my weight, I’ll be happy. But if you’ll keep chasing outside or looking for your happiness outside, you’ll still feel miserable despite of all what you do for your happiness. I’m sure you’ve heard this from many people that “Happiness is inside” but do you really know what it means?

Whatever happens around you outside, your inner stillness and content must remain. You must let in the positive energy despite of all the chaos around you. Have you ever seen a tornado? Life can sometimes feel like this gigantic storm and there are things spinning around you and there are times in life where things can look completely out of control. Often times your mood can be out of control because your mood depends on the outside things. Stillness in the midst of the chaotic going on the outside of you, that is what I’m talking about when I talk about happiness.

No matter what is happening or who you’re with, you can access this quietness inside you. Because learning how to be still and quiet can be powerful. When life gets stressful, are you able to come into yourself? If no, you can find your strength, you can find your center, you can find your ability to be content even when there’s a storm brewing. Even right now if you have problems with your bills, marriage, kids, career or health, one day everything will be fixed. The hurricane is supposed to disappear that day but here you’ll be wrong because the hurricane when it comes to happiness is inside of you. All of the things you’ve on the outside has nothing to do with your happiness.

The single biggest barrier to your happiness is YOU. You are blocking the happiness from flowing into your day-to-day life. There are plenty of reasons for you to be happy. Happiness is inside means, “You have to let happiness in”. You’ve to think and answer, do YOU allow happiness to let in? If you want to be happier, you have to end your personal campaign of misery. Life can be really hard. Maybe you’re afraid to be happy. Perhaps you used to be a happy person but then something horrible happened or somebody you love died or some tragedy happened and you don’t feel like to be happy again. You’re actively fighting against your own happiness. You aren’t allowing happiness to let in because you’re afraid you might lose that again.

Can we get over this behavior? Yes, with practice we can overcome our long-term habits and behaviors. Take out a pen and a paper and I want you to write about your week. All that happens in your week and where you have felt friction. Whatever in your life causing you friction or frustration. When you’re doing this exercise for the first time, you’ll feel that it’s a lot to do. But when you get all what was in your mind in front of your face, into the real world. You’ll be able to work on it for real and not just being frustrated about them.

When you’re going to have all this in front of your eyes, when you’ll have all your friction from your mind in front of your eyes, you’ll realize that this is what was causing me misery. That’s what I was putting my energy and efforts on. You have way more power than you realize. You have the power to change anything on that paper. At whatever phase of your life, you feel friction; you have all the power to change that and find yourself a real happiness out of it.

Do something different then waking up every morning and complaining about your life. Instead of complaining about how your friends are annoying to you, choose to stop hanging out with people who are insecure. Instead of complaining about your way, do something about it. Instead of focusing on what’s wrong, start focusing on what’s right. Let your presence flow and be here. So, you can start to let the good in because you’re missing out on your life.
